Starbucks Barista Praised for Leaving Secret Note for Young Customer

A mom’s faith in humanity was “reaffirmed” after a Starbucks barista in Corpus Christi, Texas, went above and beyond to help a young customer. In February 2022, the barista noticed a teenage girl sitting alone when a man in the store began acting strangely and engaging with her. Concerned for the girl’s safety, the barista discreetly wrote a note on her cup, claiming it was for an “extra hot chocolate someone forgot to pick up.” The note signaled to the teen that help was available, and the staff watched closely to intervene if necessary.

The girl reassured them that she was fine, but her mother, Brandy Selim Roberson, shared the story online, praising the staff for their vigilance. Roberson encouraged other businesses to follow the Starbucks staff’s example. Many online users applauded the barista’s quick thinking, expressing appreciation for the humanity and care shown in the situation.
