A new road marking is being introduced in parts of the U.S.: a thin blue line placed between the yellow center lines. Already visible on some Maryland roads, this blue line is a tribute to police officers who serve and protect their communities.
In Ocean City, the line has been added on 65th Street, leading to the police department. Mayor Rick Sheehan voiced his support, emphasizing how much the community relies on its officers.
The blue line serves two purposes: honoring law enforcement and helping drivers locate the police station. Mayor Sheehan highlighted the officers’ crucial role in maintaining peace, particularly between retirees and lively teenagers.
By adding this line, Ocean City aims to show appreciation for the sacrifices officers make. Other towns are encouraged to adopt similar markings, offering recognition to police officers who put their lives on the line every day.
