Do you have a $2 bill tucked away? It could be worth a lot. Uncirculated bills from 1890 can sell for $4,500, and those from 1862–1917 often exceed $1,000. Even newer ones, like a 2003 bill with a low serial number, sold for $4,000.
In 2022, only 1.5 billion $2 bills were in circulation, a fraction of $54.1 billion total currency. Featuring Thomas Jefferson and the Declaration of Independence, the bill faced stigma in the past but was reintroduced in 1976 and remains in use today.
