Expecting twins, Millie and Louis were devastated to learn that one of their babies had anencephaly, a condition threatening their survival. Tragically, they lost their daughter, Skye, shortly after birth. This heartbreaking experience led them to launch the purple butterfly initiative.
They established the Skye High Foundation and introduced purple butterfly stickers in NICUs worldwide. These stickers discreetly indicate that a family has lost one of their multiples, helping prevent unintentional, painful remarks during an already difficult time.
Though they cannot change Skye’s fate, Millie and Louis provide support through advocacy, support groups, and initiatives like the butterfly stickers. Their mission is to assist families facing similar losses.
As Millie explains, “I can’t prevent this from happening, but the more support groups and initiatives we create, the better it will be. It’s the hardest thing anyone can go through.”
Their commitment reflects resilience and compassion, bringing comfort to grieving families.
