Mark’s son’s graduation celebration turned chaotic after an argument arose over the dinner bill. His in-laws had organized a classy restaurant dinner for twelve, and Mark invited his parents to join. However, his father-in-law asked Mark to pay an 18% tip after he contributed $1,700 to the bill, which Mark refused. His wife didn’t comment much at the time, but later sent him a text saying, “Forget about me for a while,” accusing him of ruining their son’s celebration and embarrassing her in front of the family. When Mark returned home, he found his wife had packed up and moved out, leaving most of her belongings behind. She hasn’t answered his calls in three days. While Mark understands her anger, he feels hurt that she sided with her father instead of supporting him, especially since her father had treated Mark’s parents poorly.
