Brian Laundrie’s mother, Roberta, wrote him a letter labeled “Burn After Reading,” which was later discovered by the FBI during their search of the Laundrie family home. The letter contained unsettling phrases, including offers to help him “dispose of a body” and references to unconditional love. Roberta claimed she wrote it before Brian and Gabby Petito’s trip, though Petito’s family believes it was written after her murder.
Gabby, 22, disappeared in August 2021 during a road trip with Brian. Her body was found in September, with an autopsy confirming she died from strangulation and blunt-force trauma. Brian later died by suicide, leaving behind a note confessing to her murder.
Roberta defended her letter, stating it was not related to Gabby but was meant to express deep love for her son. A trial is expected to determine the letter’s true timing and significance.
