Legal Expert Warns of Potential Consequences from Hunter Biden’s Pardon
Mike Davis, a legal expert with the conservative Article 3 Project, has raised concerns over President Joe Biden’s sweeping pardon of his son, Hunter Biden, covering all federal offenses from the past decade. Davis suggests this move could create legal complications for both Hunter and the President in future cases.
One key issue is that the pardon removes Hunter’s ability to invoke the Fifth Amendment, which protects against self-incrimination. Since he can no longer be prosecuted for the pardoned offenses, he is now obligated to testify if called before Congress or a grand jury regarding those matters, particularly allegations of influence peddling abroad.
The pardon explicitly grants Hunter full and unconditional relief from prosecution for crimes committed between January 1, 2014, and December 1, 2024, including those charged by Special Counsel David C. Weiss. Experts caution that refusal to testify could now lead to new legal troubles, such as contempt charges.
