Designer Will Breaux turned his dream into reality by constructing a house from shipping containers. Located on McGowen Street in Houston, his home is made from 11 containers, forming a three-story, 2,500-square-foot structure with a rooftop deck.
Breaux had dreamed of building his own home since the early 2000s but struggled to find a designer who shared his vision. In 2011, he decided to take control, firing a design team that didn’t meet his expectations. Inspired by projects he admired, Breaux chose shipping containers for their strength, fireproof properties, durability, and resistance to hurricanes. Despite lacking building experience, he taught himself about container construction and created a 3D design of his home. After years of hard work, he proudly owns a fully furnished, unique container house.
