On my 32nd birthday, a mysterious box arrived, supposedly from my husband’s mistress. The day started beautifully with my husband, Dexter, wishing me a happy birthday and our son, Dave, adding to the excitement. During the party, I received a call about a parcel, and when I opened it, I found my stolen jewelry and a note saying, “FROM YOUR HUSBAND’S LOVER!” The note revealed Dexter’s affair and instructed me to meet her. Filled with dread, I drove to the address—an abandoned house. As I entered, lights flashed on and everyone yelled, “WE PLAYED YOU! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!” It was a prank orchestrated by Dexter and our friends. Dexter explained he had bought me a replica of the jewelry and that the “mistress” note was part of the joke. Relieved, I laughed and enjoyed the rest of the celebration.
